Chiropractic
Did you know that babies, children, and teenagers can benefit from chiropractic care just like adults? Dr. Shenaigh has always had a special place in her heart for children and that interest has only grown after having her own kids. She has spent years further educating and specializing her skills to treat babies and children and often has other chiropractors referring to her due to experience and skill with this population.
Adjusting babies and children is very different then adjusting adults. Most adjustments are performed with a delicate fingertip pressure, some babies even sleep through it! This allows for a gentle, safe, yet effective treatment for our most important patients.
Chiropractic Services

Newborns
From the time they are born, babies go through a lot. Position in the womb, labor, and delivery can contribute to tension in the body that may cause difficulties in the future. Chiropractic Treatment may help alleviate this tension allowing for healthy growth and development.

Infants / Babies
Chiropractic treatment can also help with feeding and/or latch issues of breastfeeding or bottle-fed babies. Dr. Shenaigh has additional training in the Pediatric Intraoral Palate Specific (PIPS) technique and in assessing and treating tongue-tie related issues.

Toddlers / Children
Being a kid means exploring their world around them and sometimes bumps and bruises happen along the way. Chiropractic treatment can help with any injuries that may arise as your child grows and can help with healthy development.

Teenagers
Before you know it, your child has grown so fast they’re taller than you. This rapid growth can sometimes cause joint restrictions and muscle tension that chiropractic can help with. They also are sitting more at school which can cause neck pain and/or headaches. Sports injuries and concussions are also common at this age.

Should You Take Your Baby to the Chiropractor?
Many people don’t realize that Chiropractors use different techniques on babies than they would on adults. These techniques are focussed on specific points on the body using only gentle fingertip pressure and do not involve any twisting or cracking of the back that are used in traditional adjustments.
Babies also go through many changes in their first year of life. If you are noticing that they are not meeting their milestones, such as rolling, sitting, crawling, etc, a chiropractic treatment may help alleviate any joint restrictions or tension in the body that may be preventing mobility. Chiropractic treatment can also help restore mobility and alignment when dealing with breastfeeding struggles.
No matter the age, chiropractic treatment can help your child feel better and move better so that they can have a healthy and active life.
